Cristiano Monsalves is a senior consultant, leader of the energy efficiency practice, and co-leader of the distributed energy and microgrid practice at CMG. He brings over 20 years of experience in construction energy efficiency projects, smart buildings, smart infrastructure, distributed generation, and strategic partnerships for utility-related business optimization.
Expertise – Energy efficiency and building infrastructure project management, distributed generation, renewables, electric vehicles, and sustainability programs for Municipal, Federal and strategic commercial and industrial customers.
CMG Framework – Smart Buildings, Business Optimization and Transformation, and Distributed Energy and Microgrid Planning.
Prior to CMG, Cristian worked in the middle east and Europe as director of projects for Takasolutions, an engineering consulting firm and energy performance contracting company headquartered in Dubai. A natural coach and mentor, Cristian provided strategic leadership to a cross functional team of project managers and energy engineers. He also brought experience in strategic partnerships, business development and sales to grow the company’s project portfolio and partnerships with public and private industry customers.
Prior to Takasolutions, he worked as Director of BD for energy efficiency and sustainability division for ECM Holding group, serving most of the mayor Energy Services Company (ESCO) with their portfolio of Fortune 500 companies, commercial and industrial customers in life sciences and education. This role leveraged his deep experience in energy efficiency projects achieved by working for the largest private owned utility energy efficiency team in the Northeast, where he developed short- and long-term strategies to address Fortune 500 and strategic customer corporate goals in energy, water, and carbon emissions reduction.
Cristiano enjoys staying connected with his colleagues through leadership roles in several professional organizations. He is currently the central Texas US Green Building Council Chair for Green Schools, part of the Environmental Stewardship Advisory Committee (Energy and Water) for Austin School district and past vice-president for the Association of Energy Engineers.
Cristiano earned his bachelor of science in mechanical engineering from the National Technical University (UBB) in Chile and completed all coursework for a master of science in mechanical engineering from the National University of La Plata (UNLP), Buenos Aires, Argentina. He is a Certified Energy Manager (CEM) and a LEED Accredited Professional (LEED AP).
Cristiano currently lives in Austin, Texas with his wife and son.
